The police detective comedy drama Psych, which headlined the USA Network lineup between 2006 and 2014, will soon be departing Netflix in all international territories (excluding the US) after only a year on the service.
Headlined by James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, and Maggie Lawson, the series followed Shawn Spencer and his police detective sidekick, who was able to break cases with his keen observation skills, which he manages to pass off as being a psychic.
As we first reported, Netflix licensed all 120 episodes across its eight seasons in May 2024. Up to 26 countries, including Latin America, the United Kingdom, India, most of Europe, Israel, Australia, and Canada, have also licensed the title. The three subsequent movies weren’t included as part of the deal.
Looking at the stats, the show had a modest showing throughout 2024 with the Netflix Engagement Report suggesting the show pulled in over 301.8M hours watched, although, as you can see below, the views significantly stepped off in the later seasons. In the report for January to June 2024, season 1 ranked as the 430th most watched TV show in that period and the 729th in the second period covering views from July to December.
- Season 1 – 86,100,000 hours watched – 7,600,000 views
- Season 2 – 45,100,000 hours watched – 4,000,000 views
- Season 3 – 36,900,000 hours watched – 3,200,000 views
- Season 4 – 33,400,000 hours watched – 2,900,000 views
- Season 5 – 31,300,000 hours watched – 2,700,000 views
- Season 6 – 28,500,000 hours watched – 2,500,000 views
- Season 7 – 25,200,000 hours watched – 2,200,000 views
- Season 8 – 15,300,000 hours watched – 2,000,000 views
As now confirmed by a removal notice in the Netflix app on mobile, TV, and desktop, your “Last day to watch” the series is April 30th, with the removal scheduled for May 1st, 2025.

As noted, this removal does not impact Netflix in the United States, given that Psych was not added to the streamer last year. In fact, Netflix in the United States has been around for nearly a decade since the USA Network show was removed on October 1st, 2016. In the US, the series is currently streaming on Peacock (its default home) and Prime Video.
While it’s welcome that Netflix has been increasing its licensing of titles like Psych internationally, it’s undoubtedly a shame that it’s for such a short period. The same happened with two other shows owned by Universal Television and a few other providers, such as CSI and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, both departing Netflix internationally after a single year.
