The historical drama series Medici is set to leave Netflix again in May 2024. It was previously listed for departure in 2023 and scored a short extension. Here’s what we know.
Airing on Rai 1 in Italy, Netflix acquired the exclusive rights to all three seasons, which dropped onto streaming following their initial airings. Season 1 was titled Medici: Masters of Florence, whereas seasons 2 and 3 fell under Medici: The Magnificent, set 20 years after the first season.
Across the 24 episodes, the show featured some incredible talent, including Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden and Sean Bean, plus the likes of Stuart Martin, Daniel Sharman, Brian Cox, Bradley James, and Annabel Scholey.
When is Medici leaving Netflix?
As we covered last year, Medici: Masters of Florence (the first of three seasons) was removed from Netflix in January 2023. However, just a month later, Netflix re-added the first season. At the time, we noted that our intel suggested the series would be up for renewal again just over a year later.
Well, that time is here, and a notification is now showing within the Netflix UI again, but this time for Medici: Masters of Florence and Medici: The Magnificent to expire from the service in May 2024.
The removal date coincides precisely four years after season 3 was added.
A notice within the Netflix UI (embedded below) states that the last day to watch all three seasons is April 30th, and the title is scheduled to depart on May 1st, 2024.

Netflix only streams the show in a handful of regions, and all of those show the removal date. The regions the removal date applies to includes Netflix in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.
Given the re-addition and extension of the license for season 1 last year, we can’t rule out the same happening again this time, but for the most part, removals tend to be final.
