Fox Leaving Netflix

The majority of Fox titles have now left Netflix with notable exceptions and a few still to leave. Here we have a full list of titles that have left Netflix so far plus all those that are leaving in 2018.

The new Hulu deal will be bringing most of Fox’s library to the streaming service and in many cases, exclusively too. Netflix lost the contract earlier this year when it stated that it would not be renewing Fox shows. This means that when the renewal time comes around (a year from when it was added first) the show would expire and leave Netflix forever.

Given that Fox recently got bought out by Disney, you could say it was part of the plan to consolidate all of its content onto Hulu which is now the majority shareholder. We’ve also predicted that ABC may follow suit this year.

Note: This only applies to the United States. However, many regions will cycle Fox content in and out.

Fox Titles Leaving in 2018

There are very few titles remaining from Fox on Netflix but there are still four big titles that aren’t being covered by bigger media outlets. These titles are New Girl, Glee, That 70’s Show and White Collar.

Title Name Removal Date
Futurama (Seasons 7 to 10) January 30th
Family Guy (Seasons 1 to 8) February 14th
The Following (Seasons 1 to 3) September 2018
New Girl (Seasons 1 to 5) Excluded
Glee (Seasons 1 to 6) Excluded
That 70’s Show (Seasons 1 to 8) Excluded
White Collar (Seasons 1 to 6) Excluded

Gotham is not on this list because it’s distributed by another company, not Fox.

What about FX titles?

Yes, all FX titles are either leaving Netflix or part of a special arrangement keeping the titles on Netflix.

Will Fox return to Netflix one day?

Before the Disney deal, we’d have said yes, it’s more than possible. Now that Disney owns Fox and has a good reason to keep its content on Hulu we think it’s less than likely. With that said, we do foresee instances where Netflix will do deals for specific Fox shows. This happens already with a number of networks Netflix works with.
