The first quarter of the year is nearly up! It’s been a busy month of new arrivals, but as the month draws to a close – will Netflix’s output slow down? Nope. This week, Netflix has a lot of new documentaries and a few new movies and series that are all worth checking out. Here’s an early preview of what’s coming up throughout the week on Netflix in the US and globally.
We still don’t quite have the complete list of April 2025 releases, but we did cover some of the classic movies set to arrive on April 1st here, and we’ve got a list of everything else we know is coming up throughout the month in our full preview. We’re expecting a full list on Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled!

Documentaries Galore!
Usually, we pick out three titles altogether in this section, but this week has a wide mix of documentaries coming up. So, let’s run through them!
One we’ve been tracking for a while is Con Mum, a new documentary feature that tells the untold story of a famous chef who was swindled by someone who entered his life claiming to be his mother. I’m looking forward to Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure, which recounts the incredible story of a man saying he had planted treasure, leading to a nationwide search (and plenty of controversy).
Finally, From Rock Star to Killer was added quite late to the schedule, with Netflix France only even announcing the title in the last couple of weeks or so. The limited series tells the story of the rock singer Bertrand Cantat, who served as the frontman for the French rock band Noir Désir. In 2003, the singer killed his longtime partner and actress, Marie Trintignant. The story dominated the French press, and this docuseries revisits the controversy and case featuring testimonials from journalists and authors Anne-Sophie Jahn and Michelle Fines.
The Life List
Coming to Netflix: Friday
There are a few actors and actresses that you could consider staples of the Netflix library at this point. Millie Bobby Brown is undoubtedly on that list, but making a strong case for being close to the top is Sofia Carson, who has appeared in four Netflix movies (five if you count the Sing-Along version of My Little Pony: A New Generation) for the streamer thus far with her most recent, Carry-On, now listed amongst the most watched titles of all time.
This fifth title should appeal to fans of Purple Hearts (we still don’t know if it’s getting a sequel—sad face). The plot is taken from the popular book by Lori Nelson Spielman. Carson plays the role of Alex, whose mother tasks her with completing a teenage bucket list, which sends her down many twists and turns, including some romance.
Carson headlines alongside Kyle Allen, Connie Britton, Sebastian De Souza, José Zúñiga, Jordi Mollà, and Michael Rowland.
Talk to Me (2023)
Coming to Netflix: Friday
Joining Netflix US’s rotating library of A24 movies is the Australian-produced horror movie headlined by Sophie Wilde, who performs sublimely throughout. The plot is simple: a group of friends stumbles upon a model hand full of weird text. When you repeat one particular phrase, that hand allows you to see dead people. When you repeat another, that dead person can take over your body. Hold the hand too long? All hell breaks loose. Danny and Michael Philippou are the directors behind the film, which holds an impressive IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes score, which is impressive given that Horrors usually divides either critics or audiences.
