Pictured: Ready Player One, Waves and The Tourist
January is now winding down which is going to be taking us into an extra long February thanks to a leap year. Here’s a rundown of everything new hitting Netflix in the United States over the next seven days including all the new licensed movies and series plus new Netflix Originals.
Of course, with lots of additions to Netflix, there will also be a lot of removals too. Whether it’s the animated DC movie League of Super-Pets or the Oscar-winning musical La La Land, there’s lots worth watching before it departs.

Most Anticipated New Releases on Netflix This Week
Waves (2019)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
Two major A24 movies are hitting Netflix on the first of the month and while we’ve already given X lots of focus over on our most anticipated movies list for the month, we wanted to spotlight Waves here.
Trey Edward Shults writes and directs this tear-jerker that stars Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Lucas Hedges, and Taylor Russell.

The Tourist (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
The big new series release for Netflix this week is The Tourist which is/was a BBC co-production with HBO Max but was announced earlier this year to be changing course and heading to Netflix instead.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it follows a man waking up in the Australian outback with absolutely no recollection of how he gets there. Jamie Dornan leads.
If you have already caught The Tourist season 1 when it was exclusive to HBO Max (not just Max) then don’t fret, you only have a few more weeks to wait for the entire second season to drop exclusively on Netflix.
Ready Player One (2018)
Coming to Netflix: Saturday
While most blockbusters this week are hitting on Thursday (the first of the month), this Warner Bros. Pictures movie from Steven Spielberg will be dropping on Netflix US for the first time over the weekend.
Based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name, the movie is set in 2045 with players in a virtual world competing to win the keys to control the digital space.
