You S5, Havoc, and A Dog’s Way Home – Pictures: Netflix / Sony Pictures
Spring is in full flow, and we’re now heading into the penultimate week of April, so what’s on the schedule for Netflix? Quite a bit as it turns out, including Netflix’s first major English language movie of the month… No, we’re not joking. Here’s what we’re looking forward to watching and everything coming up on Netflix between April 21st and 27th, 2025.
All the titles listed below are in addition to the ongoing weekly episodes of new series currently streaming. On the anime front, ONE PIECE continues to debut new episodes every Saturday, with WITCH WATCH also dropping weekly—note that English dubs will arrive three weeks after each episode premieres. Over in K-drama territory, Resident Playbook kicked off last Saturday, with the next episode landing this coming weekend.
Elsewhere, expect new episodes of Heavenly Ever After (Saturday), The Blank Menu For You (Saturday), Chef & My Fridge (Sunday), Crime Patrol (Saturday), K-Foodie Meets J-Foodie (Thursday), Screwballs (Sunday), and Try? Choo-ry! (Wednesday).
On the chopping block this week are some fairly big titles that are well worth watching. Today (April 21st) is your last day to watch the documentaries Ahead of the Curve (2020) and Duran Duran: There’s Something You Should Know (2018) with other titles leaving throughout the week including Minions, Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, Knights of the Zodiac, and right at the end of the week, we’ll see the departure of Patriots Day and When We Were Kings.
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney and Pop The Balloon LIVE return with new episodes this week, with new episodes on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Don’t forget that on Wednesday, we’ll have the complete list of everything coming to Netflix in May 2025.
What to Watch on Netflix This Week
You (Season 5)
Coming to Netflix: Thursday
We’ve known for quite some time that multiple big Netflix dramas are bowing out with their final seasons, and among that list is the final season of You, perhaps one of the best and most successful revivals the streamer has ever seen. For years now, Joe Goldberg has gotten away with murder (quite literally) and in this final entry, he’s heading back to where it all began, The Big Apple. Hoping this will be his final stop from his recent world tour, will he finally face consequences? We’ll find out this week.
Bullet Train Explosion (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Wednesday
One of the two big new movies from Netflix this week is a remake (sort of) of the 1975 movie The Bullet Train, with the plot taking place on Japan’s iconic trains that dart across the country, usually without incident. That’s not the case on this particular journey with the Hayabusa 60 Shinkansen bound for Tokyo, rigged to blow if the train reaches its destination or slows to a certain point.
We actually got the chance to watch this movie early, and it’s one of our strongest ratings of the year so far. In our review, written by What’s on Netflix contributor Florian Etcheverry, we give it four stars, concluding, “A strong reimagining of a 1970s disaster movie that plays on realistic crisis management, smart commentary on the modern reactions to a crisis, and a fair share of twists. Bullet Train Explosion is one of the more entertaining offerings of Netflix in Asia this year.”
Havoc (2025)
Coming to Netflix: Friday
There have been a few Netflix movies missing in action over the past few years, having already completed production. The Old Guard 2 and Rebel Ridge are two of the titles that fit that box, and Havoc also certainly fits in there, having completed production two years ago.
Action movie maestro Gareth Evans is behind the new blockbuster, which has been getting excellent reactions online following its premiere last week, with most of the praise landing at the door of both Evans and its big star, Tom Hardy. “After a drug deal goes awry,” reads the synopsis, “a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son while untangling his city’s dark web of conspiracy and corruption.”
