Netflix New Additions featuring LOTR, Ozark, The Good Place, The Originals, Disenchantment, Million Dollar Baby and The Golden Compass
Welcome to your preview of everything coming to Netflix in the United States throughout August 2018. We’ve got the complete list of announced releases throughout the month plus some highlights of the titles which you should be looking forward to in advance.
As you may know, Netflix’s push for Original content has been more evident than ever in 2018 and August is no exception. Every Tuesday and Friday comes a large drop of new Netflix Original content. If you’re looking for an in-depth preview of the originals coming next month, check out our preview.
New Release Highlights
Let’s take a look at the best new titles headed our way next month:
New Movies
Avid readers of our site will notice quite a few re-additions this month but some are good enough that we won’t say anything. First up, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring returns for the second time in 2018 after us saying that it wouldn’t be back because Hulu now had all three movies.
Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank star in 2004’s fantastic boxing drama, Million Dollar Baby. The best equivalent for the movie is that it’s an Oscar-worthy Rocky.
Finally, for the kids, we have The Golden Compass which saw the book of the same name get its big screen debut back in 2007.
New TV Series
The Netflix Original series make up the majority of the new TV additions this month. Jason Bateman’s tense thriller series Ozark gets its second season at the tail-end of the month. We’ll also see the debut season of Disenchantment which comes from the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama.
We’ll also get two updates from The CW. The first is the final season of The Originals that’ll arrive in the middle of the month and we’ll also get the new epic season of The 100 too.
Our final TV pick is NBC’s The Good Place which will see the second season finally added in August.
