Most to all of The CW’s scripted content will be joining Netflix throughout the course of 2019 with their updated seasons. Here’s your guide to all The CW shows coming to Netflix and when they’ll likely do so.
Netflix will continue operating under the deal struck in 2016 with CBS’s subsidiary The CW in 2019. It may be the case that the deal will be up for negotiation this year come the summer as a “multi-year” deal has now been in place for three years.
It used to be the case that most shows from The CW would drop on Netflix around October each year. With the new deal, however, Netflixers in the United States are treated to them dropping around a week after they wrap up airing.
What The CW Shows are not coming to Netflix?
Only scripted shows are included in this deal. Their reality shows, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Masters of Illusion, The Jerry Springer Show, and their children’s programming are excluded.
Also, we’re currently expecting any title that The CW acquired from other providers to be excluded. For 2019, this includes The Outpost, Burden of Truth, and Bulletproof.
All American (Season 1) was expected on Netflix in December 2018 / January 2019, but that hasn’t come to fruition.
Of course, all the dates below are subject to change, as is the deal itself. We’ll update you the second we hear otherwise.
The CW Titles Coming to Netflix in 2019
Titles are listed in alphabetical order.
Arrow (Season 7)
Expected Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
The one that started it all for DC shows on CW, Arrow first debuted back in 2012. After a couple of poor seasons for The Emerald Archer, since gaining a new showrunner, the series is returning to its roots and why people loved it in the first place. Expect Oliver Queen to be back on your screen, ready to fight crime again in 2019.
Black Lightning (Season 2)
Confirmed Netflix Release Date: March 26th, 2019
Unknown to many fans, Black Lightning was the very first Black superhero to star in his very own comic for DC. While Luke Cage was the first Black superhero to get his own TV show, Black Lightning can claim that accolade as the first DC hero instead. Both seasons have been very popular among audiences worldwide as Netflix has international streaming rights to the hero.
The second season of the series arrived on March 26th.
Charmed (2018 – Season 1)
Expected Netflix Release Date: February/March 2019
This show is getting absolutely trashed on social media and review sites. The Charmed reboot isn’t exactly what fans hoped for or even wanted. We do suspect it’s coming to Netflix, although if you’re a fan of the original, most fans would advise you to stay away.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (Season 4)
Expected Netflix Release Date: April/May 2019
This will be Rebecca Bloom’s final outing as the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She begins this season in prison and for the past few seasons, she has gone to incredible lengths to get her boyfriend back.
Dynasty (Season 2)
Expected Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
Dynasty has been growing in popularity since the reboot first kicked off. It’s a classy drama that has everything from a reality TV series to keep you absolutely hooked. The second season is airing right now.
In The Dark (Season 1)
Expected Netflix Release Date: Late 2019
In The Dark is a brand new comedy likely bought into replacing the outgoing Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Very little is known about the new series, but it’s certainly one to watch as it plans to premiere midseason on The CW.
iZombie (Season 5)
Expected Netflix Release Date: Late 2019
No announcement of iZombie season 5’s release date has yet been released. We’re expecting it to be again midseason, meaning it’ll be arriving on Netflix in late summer or fall.
Jane The Virgin (Season 5)
Expected Netflix Release Date: Late 2019
Once again, we’re expecting Jane the Virgin’s final season to commence in the midseason of The CW’s schedule. This will be our farewell to Jane as she continues her chaotic life as a new mom.
Legacies (Season 1)
Confirmed Netflix Release Date: April 5th, 2019
With the absence of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals this year from The CW, most have welcomed Legacies with open arms.
Legends of Tomorrow (Season 4)
Expected Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
DC Legends of Tomorrow is the surprise package of the Arrowverse. Not many fans expected to see a show using the list of B and C superheroes to be so entertaining. Utilizing its vast library of heroes and it’s using its liberties on fictional history, you’re in for a wild ride with the crew of the Legends. Season 4 is reported to have its longest season yet, with 20 episodes! Having started later than their superhero counterparts, we can still expect the legends to arrive on Netflix at roughly the same time as everyone else.
Riverdale (Season 3)
Expected Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
Riverdale is undoubtedly The CW’s biggest show at the moment and with Netflix also being the home to Sabrina, the streaming service is a must-have for Archie Comics fans. Riverdale continues to turn the weirdness up in season 3, and fans should expect it on Netflix in the summer of next year.
Roswell, New Mexico
Expected Release Date: Late Summer/Fall 2019
11 episodes of the Roswell High book series’ second reboot are due from January 2019 onwards. It’ll see a new cast and is developed by Carina Mackenzie. If you’re a fan of supernatural fiction, keep a close eye on this show.
Supergirl
Estimated Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
Supergirl was originally on CBS before being picked up by the CW after its first season. It hasn’t taken long for the Kryptonian to take her place among her fellow heroes. The full amount of episodes are yet to be confirmed for Supergirl, but if we go by previous seasons we can expect roughly 22 or 23 episodes. That being said if they filter her down to 16 we can expect a much earlier release date.
To coincide with the other CW shows, we fully expect Supergirl to receive at least 20 episodes. Therefore, we expect Supergirl also to be released in either May or June of 2019.
Supernatural (Season 14)
Expected Netflix Release Date: May – July 2019
Supernatural continues breaking records, with it now being the longest-running fantasy TV series and currently the longest-running show in The CW roster. There’s just no stopping the pair of supernatural hunters, and rightly so. An extended 14th season means we could have the series drop later than usual.
The 100 (Season 6)
Expected Netflix Release Date: Late 2019
No announcement regarding the sixth season of The 100 has been released just yet. That means we’re predicting the show to be part of The CW’s summer line-up. That means we wouldn’t see the return of the sci-fi show until much later on in the year.
The Flash (Season 5)
Estimated Netflix Release Date: May/June 2019
The Crimson Comet, The Scarlett Speedster what fantastic names for a superhero of the Flash’s popularity. The 2nd in line in the list of DC shows it didn’t take long for the Flash to speed past Arrow to become the fan favorite. 5 seasons later, 2 shows are still battling it out for the top spot. The Flash and Friends will return to Netflix in the summer of 2019.
