Picture: Hellbound season 2 is coming to Netflix in 2024

There are many K-dramas to look forward to on Netflix in 2024 and to celebrate the New Year, we’ve selected a handful of K-dramas we’re most excited to watch on Netflix this year.

2023 was a solid year for K-dramas on Netflix. We’re hoping 2024 will be an equally strong year for the streaming service, with several new and exciting movies and shows on the way. Predicting what’s going to be popular and what’s going to flop is almost an infallible task. However, we can undoubtedly showcase all of the K-dramas for which we are most excited so far.

Squid Game and All of Us Are Dead are omitted from the list below, as we’re not expecting to see them released on Netflix until sometime in 2025.

Manga readers and anime audiences will be familiar with the name Parasyte. The popular body horror franchise from Hitoshi Iwaaki is receiving its first adaptation outside of Japan, helmed by Train to Busan and Hellbound creator Yeon Sang Ho.

Filming for Parasyte: The Grey occurred between September 2022 and February 2023. We expect to see the K-drama on Netflix sometime in Q3 (July-August) 2024.

When a mysterious alien parasite falls from space, it finds a host body in Jung Soo In, but before it can take over her mind and body, she traps the parasite within her arm. Unable to steal her brain, the Parasite, and Jung Soo In must find a way to cohabitate while also dealing with the other parasites who have occupied the minds and bodies of their human hosts.

High school dramas are often quite popular amongst K-drama watchers, but a K-drama about the children of the social elite will grab the attention of plenty of subscribers.

Hierarchy was filmed between June 2023 and September 2023, so we expect to see the K-drama released on Netflix in the second half of 2024.

The K-drama is set at the prestigious Jooshin High School, where students are chosen to attend from birth thanks to the elite status of their parents. When Kang Ha is transferred to Jooshin High School, his pure and innocent smile holds a secret that threatens to break the foundations and traditions of the school.

Sweet Home (Season 3) N

Episodes: TBA
Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi
Cast: Song Kang, Lee Jin Wook, Go Min Si, Lee Si Young, Yoo Oh Sung
Expected Netflix Release Date: Summer 2023

After a three-year wait, the second season of Sweet Home returned on Netflix. Sadly, the viewership wasn’t as high as what was anticipated. However, we’re still excited to see how the story of Sweet Home will conclude.

The second and third seasons of Sweet Home were filmed back to back, so the wait for the next season is dramatically smaller.

Hellbound (Season 2) N

Episodes: TBA
Genre: Horror, Mystery, Supernatural
Cast: Kim Hyun Joo, Kim Sung Chek, Kim Shin Rok, Yang Dong Guen, Park Jeong Min
Expected Netflix Release Date: Second Half of 2024

Park Jeong Min Hellbound Most Anticipated K Dramas Netflix

It took a while for Netflix to announce a second season. Still, Yeon Sang Ho’s supernatural horror will return with a new leading cast member after Yoo Ah In’s controversial drug scandal, which has seen the actor removed from several K-drama projects. Kim Sung Cheol will take over as Jung Jin Soo.

Filming for the second season of Hellbound took place between June 2023 and October 2023. We expect the second season to be released in the second half of 2024, likely around October or November.

A Killer Paradox (Season 1) N

Episodes: 7
Genre: Comedy, Thriller
Cast: Choi Woo Shik, Son Suk Ku, Lee Hee Joon, Hyun Bong Sik, Kim Yo Han
Netflix Release Date: February 9th, 2024

A Killer Paradox Most Anticipated K Dramas Netflix

Previously titled Murder Dieary, A Killer Paradox is one of the first of our most anticipated arrivals in 2024. The series is one of many webtoon adaptations to land on Netflix in recent years, proving that Korean media is a treasure trove of content for the streaming service.

Filming occurred between September 2022 and March 2023, so it’s unsurprising that A Killer Paradox is arriving in early 2024.

The series is centered around Lee Tang, a seemingly ordinary college student who, after getting into an argument with a customer during a shift at the convenience store, accidentally kills him. The terror of going to jail turns to joy when Lee Tang learns that the person who accidentally killed was a serial killer, and before long, he learns that he can identify evil people. Wishing to use his powers for good, Lee Tang becomes a vigilante, punishing those with wicked pasts.

The 8 Show (Season 1) N

Episodes: 8*
Genre: Thriller
Cast: Ryu Joon Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Park Hae Joon, Bae Sung Woo
Netflix Release Date: TBA

Ryu Jeon Yeol The Show Most Anticipated K Dramas Netflix

Thanks to the concept of the K-drama, instant comparisons will be drawn towards Squid Game. However, these comparisons may also make the series popular amongst subscribers.

The irony is not lost on us: after famous YouTuber Mr. Beast made his own real-life Squid Game video, Netflix followed suit with Squid Game: The Challange, only for Mr. Beast to make a video with a highly similar concept that will be seen in The 8 Show.

It remains to be seen if The 8 Show will arrive on Netflix in 2024. With the series currently in pre-production and no announced filming dates, we’ll be lucky to see the K-drama land on the streaming service before the end of 2024.

Chicken Nugget (Season 1) N

Episodes: TBA
Genre: Comedy
Cast: Ryu Joon Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Park Hae Joon, Bae Sung Woo
Netflix Release Date: Spring or Summer 2023

Kim Yoo Jung Chicken Nugget Most Anticipated K Dramas Netflix

Picture: Kim Yoo Jung

The series will be centered around one of the weirdest concepts we’ve seen for a K-drama. The beautiful Choi Min Ah (played by Kim Jung Yoo) mistakes a machine to help her fatigue and accidentally turns herself into fried chicken. It’s up to her father, Choi Sun Man, and the intern, Go Baek Jung, to turn her back into a human.

Filming concluded several months ago, in April 2023, so we expect to see Chicken Nugget on streaming service within the next few months.

Given the absurd fun of the plot, there’s a chance that Chicken Nugget could be a surprise hit on Netflix.
