Netflix Unveils Slate of 26 Movies and Series from the Nordics

The latest Next on Netflix event unveils new titles coming up in 2024 & beyond from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

Netflix has just revealed a number of new titles coming from the various Nordic countries. Highlights include a sequel to The Chestnut Man, The Key Series, The New Force, and new seasons of Pernille and Baracuda Queens.

This is just the latest Next on Netflix event reveal. Kickstarting the reveals in February 2024 was the US team announcing over 90 debut and returning series and over 50 upcoming movies and docs. More recently, we’ve had slate reveals for Netflix in the United Kingdom and Netflix Germany.

Let’s dive into the upcoming slate of titles from the Nordics, beginning with the teaser trailer:

  • A Part of You (Film) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix on May 31st – Sigge Eklund directs this romantic comedy.
  • An Honest Life (Film) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix in Fall 2024 – A thriller about betrayal, class, and the appeal of living outside the law. Simon Lööf, Nora Rios, Peter Andersson, and Willy Ramnek Petri to star.
  • Baby Fever (Season 2) – Denmark – Coming to Netflix in Fall 2024 – In the second season, we meet Nana, now mother to a two-month-old baby. But, as much as she adores her child, Nana hates being on maternity leave, so she begs her old boss, Helle, to give her back her job.
  • Billionaire Island (Season 1) – Norway – Coming to Netflix in Fall 2024 – Anne Bjørnstad is directing this new series about two families in a small coastal community who are sworn enemies.
  • Deliver Me (Season 1) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix on April 24th, 2024 – Crime series starring Yasir Hassan, Olle Strand, Ardalan Esmaili, and Yusra Warsama about two teenage friends are torn apart when one attempts to escape a local gang.

  • Making It In Marbella (Season 1) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix in Fall 2024 – Series about the Swedish real estate brokers who earn millions by selling stunning homes to the rich and famous.
  • Maybe Baby 2 – Denmark – A sequel to the first Maybe Baby film released in 2023 (not as a Netflix Original, however). Mille Dinesen, Katinka Lærke Petersen, Lars Ranthe, Kasper Dalsgaard, and Thomas Bo Larsen to star.
  • Midsummer Night (Season 1) – Norway – Coming to Netflix on April 11th – “It’s midsummer. It’s the longest day of the year. It’s a party. There is romance in the air. But it’s also the day that Carina and Johannes, after 30 years of marriage, choose to tell their family and friends a big secret that has unforeseen consequences.”
  • Pernille (Season 4) – Norway – Coming to Netflix in Summer 2024 – Henriette Steenstrup, Nils Ole Oftebro, and Vivild Falk Berg return!
  • Stolen (Film) – Sweden – Based on the critically acclaimed novel Stolen by award-winning author Ann-Helén Laestadius, this film is about a young woman struggling to defend her indigenous heritage in a world where xenophobia and climate change threatens everything.

  • The Helicopter Heist (Season 1) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix Fall 2024 – In a shocking turn of events, a daring helicopter heist in Stockholm saw millions vanish from a supposedly secure cash depot. Ardalan Esmaili, Mahmut Suvakci, Iskra Kostic, and Einar Bredefeldt to star.

  • The Snow Sister – Norway – New Christmas family movie from Norway. Despite Christmas approaching and a family secret overshadowing Julian’s eleventh birthday, a cheerful new friend named Hedvig reignites his Christmas spirit, leading him to a strange house and a mysterious old man.
  • Trouble (Film) – Sweden – Coming to Netflix in Fall 2024 – A wrongly convicted salesman in prison must navigate a gang’s escape plan to fulfill his daughter’s birthday wish. Filip Berg, Amy Deasismont, and Eva Melander to star.


Netflix Nordics Movies and Series Coming in 2025

  • Barracuda Queens (Season 2) – Sweden – A new season of the scripted series that will see the return of Alva Bratt, Tea Stjärne, Sarah Gustafsson, and Tindra Monsen.
  • Diary of a Ditched Girl (Working Title) – Sweden – Series adaptation of Amanda Romare’s novel about a 31-year-old embarking on a summer of disastrous dates, questioning why love is so elusive while navigating rejection with her friends. Carla Sehn plays the lead role of Carla Sehn.
  • Love is Blind: Sweden (Season 2) – Sweden – A renewal of the reality dating series.
  • The Glass Dome (Film) – Sweden – Previously announced, this upcoming movie has just cast Léonie Vincent, Johan Hedenberg, and Johan Rheborg among others.
  • The Right Track (Film) – Norway – Facing eviction and a daughter slipping away, a broke and unorganized Emilie must train for the grueling Birken ski race with her sporty brother to forge a new path. Vilde Klohs and Lars Gudmestad writing with Hans Christian Omsted directing.

  • The Swedish Connection (Film) – Sweden – World War II film (the second from the region) about an unknown hero based on the true story of Gösta Engzell, a down prioritized bureaucrat at the Swedish Foreign Ministry who develops a plan to fool the nazis. Henrik Dorsin, Sissela Benn, Jonas Karlsson, Johan Glans, and Marianne Mörck to star.

Netflix Nordics Movies and Series Coming in 2026

  • Harry Hole (Working Title) – Norway – Jo Nesbø’s debut series about a scorching heat wave that descends on to a deserted Oslo and sees Detective Harry Hole, ostracized and hungover, finding himself partnered with his corrupt ex-colleague on a new case involving a murdered woman and a gruesome discovery in an apartment by the cemetery.
  • Je M’Appelle Agneta (Film) – Sweden – Based on Je M’appelle Agneta by Emma Hamberg, this story follows 49-year-old Agneta, who becomes an au pair in France, only to discover her quirky employer is actually an elderly man in need of an unlikely friendship.
  • Little Siberia (Film) – Finland – Eero Ritala, Malla Malmivaara, Tommi Korpela, and Martti Suosalo to star. A meteorite crashes into a car in a dying village, launching its priest, a war veteran, into a dual mystery: protecting the space rock and his secret infertility.
The Chestnut Man Sequel

  • The Chestnut Man Sequel – Danica Curcic and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard will star in this new “standalone sequel” to The Chestnut Man.
  • The New Force – Sweden – Serving as the first-period drama from the country, this drama follows the struggles of Sweden’s first female police officers in 1958 – facing prejudice from society, colleagues, and even their families, all while navigating a dangerous part of Stockholm. Starring Josefin Asplund, Agnes Rase, and Malin Persson.

  • The Key Series (Working Title) – Sweden – Based on Jag kommer att hitta nyckeln by Alex Ahndoril, this crime noir film follows Julia Stark who is a private detective hired by a wealthy family to solve a murder.
