Netflix has already got a fantastic original lineup planned for October with the return of Netflix’s biggest series yet, another Sandler entry and plenty of other series and movies to keep you entertained as the nights begin drawing in as we head towards winter.
As always, you can expect more titles to be added to this list throughout the month as we discover more Netflix Originals and additionally you can expect a full preview with third party titles, Disney movies, CW shows and more towards the end of September.
Suburra (Season 1)
Release Date: October 6th, 2017
A lot of European countries have now had the chance to create their own Netflix Original and now it’s the turn of the Italians. Suburra will release towards the beginning of the month with ten episodes. It’s a political drama that’ll explore the link between organized crime and politics in Rome.
The Meyerowitz Stories (Movie)
Release Date: October 13th, 2017
The Meyerowitz Stories from Adam Sandler will be the fourth title and was supposed to be the last until Netflix ordered several more. Written by Noah Baumbach this new movie will co-star, Ben Stiller, Emma Thompson, and Dustin Hoffman. The best news of all? The reviews for the movie have been overall very positive meaning it’ll likely be his best movie to hit Netflix so far.
Mindhunter (Season 1)
Release Date: October 13th, 2017
In this unnerving series, two FBI agents not only tries to prevent crimes committed by psychopaths but attempt to understand it leads to complications later on. The series features a stellar cast including Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallanay, Anna Torv and Hannah Gross. From the outlook, it looks as if this series will share many similarities with Criminal Minds but with a much darker tone than the CBS show.
Voltron: Legendary Defenders (Season 4)
Release Date: October 13th, 2017
Dreamworks has been excellent at producing new episodes to its shows in a short period of time and Voltron is no different. Just several months after season 3, the legendary defenders will be back for another season but with an unknown amount of episodes.
Patton Oswalt: Annihilation (Standup Special)
Release Date: October 17th, 2017
Patton has become a bit of a regular on Netflix, having appeared in Lady Dynamite as well as co-star in the Mystery Science Theatre remake. His second stand-up special is due in October which comes after his well-received first show called Talking for Clapping. His new special, filmed at the Chicago Athenaeum Theatre, will look at how he dealt with the passing of his wife as well as the political climate and social media.
1922 (Movie)
Release Date: October 20th, 2017
It’s a great time to have a Netflix subscription if you’re a fan of Stephen King’s work. To start, Netflix in some regions picked up The Mist season 1 last month and more movies and series in the works for the future. 1922 is a Netflix Original movie and is based on the 133-page book by Stephen King. With the murderer playing the role of the narrator he’ll tell his confession of his wife’s murder and how she came back to haunt him.
The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story (Docuseries)
Release Date: October 20th, 2017
Netflix is soon to be the home of El Chapo. With a dedicated original series called El Chapo released this year, Narcos looking to cover the drug lord in the future and now this docu-series you can safely say the subject will be covered in depth. This three part documentary series is slightly different from others available as it’ll serve more of a biographic for Kate del Castillo who is a famous television actress who famously interviewed the drug lord. This will contain never-before seen footage from the encounter with the drug lord.
Wheelman (Movie)
Release Date: October 20th, 2017
Starring Frank Grillo (Captain America), this new adaptation of the Wheelman license will be rolling onto Netflix on October 20th. Frank will star as the wheelman, a getaway driver who when a bank robbery goes terribly wrong and has to figure out who double crossed him and is forced to go into hiding to keep his 14-year-old daughter safe. If you’re thinking that you’ve heard of Wheelman before, then you’re probably thinking of the 2009 video game which starred Vin Diesel.
Stranger Things (Season 2)
Release Date: October 27th, 2017
Netflix’s biggest original is coming back with a lot more riding on it going into the second season than it did with the first. The world over has come to love the five kids introduced in season 1 and has become a global sensation. The team will be facing their biggest threat yet which makes the Demogorgon look like a little puppy in comparison. Eleven is confirmed to be returning and apart from that, all details surrounding the plot have been under-wraps.
