March 2019 is already set to be a big month for Netflix Originals. Here’s your comprehensive look at all the Netflix Original movies and TV series scheduled for release throughout the month of March 2019. 

For every month of the year, we prepare a monthly guide to the new Netflix Originals to go alongside the long list of new releases which includes titles from other providers too. Netflix Originals are growing to be a more important part of the Netflix library meaning these guides are getting bigger all the time.

Netflix has a big 2019 planned with over 80 movies and at least 150 new and returning series coming throughout the course of the year. Here’s a look at what’s coming in March.


Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians (Season 1)

Release Date: March 1st

This docu-series sets out to document the Indian Premier League champions Mumbai. Cricket certainly won’t be for everyone, but this will surely be a smash hit in India where cricket is seen as the national sport.


Cannon Busters (Season 1)

Cannon Busters is an upcoming Netflix Original anime that is based on the comic book series of the name. Created by LeSean Thomas, eagle-eyed fans will recognize him for his work on numerous anime and cartoon titles such as Legend of Korra, The Boondocks and Children of Ether. The series will arrive on March 1st and will air with all 12 episodes.


Larva Island (Season 2)

Release Date: March 1st

The bizarre and wild adventures of the two creatures will continue on the remote island. This show has quickly become a big hit with the kids and 13 more short episodes are the way in March.


Northern Rescue (Season 1)

Release Date: March 1st

We first heard of Northern Rescue back in May 2018 when Netflix first announced the co-production with CBC in Canada. Fans of Heartland will enjoy this drama that features the likes of William Baldwin and Kathleen Robertson.

The story centers around a family who quit their old life in an urban center and moves up north to a small town to work for the search & rescue service.


The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (Movie)

Release Date: March 1st

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in this movie adaptation of the book of the same name. In addition to that, he also wrote and directed the movie too.

It’s about a boy in Malawi who helps his village build a wind turbine after reading about them in a book.

The movie will come in at just under 2 hours.


Rebellion (Season 2)

Release Date: March 4th
Excludes: Ireland 

Resistance Netflix

Rebellion is returning for a second season but in actual fact, is a brand new season called Resistance. It’s being considered by RTE as a separate entity but still will serve as a sequel to the 2016 Rebellion series.

Quite a few of the cast will be returning from season 1 of the show including Brian Gleeson, Jordanne Jones, Millie Donnelly, and Gavin Drea to name a few.

This series will be set in the late 1920’s.


Walk. Ride. Rodeo (Movie)

Release Date: March 8th

This movie sets out to tell the try story of a nationally ranked rodeo racer who competes after surviving a car accident. It features the likes of Missi Pyle, Alvia Alyn Lind an Kathleen Rose Perkins. Expect a truly heartfelt story wrapped up as a feelgood Netflix movie.


Secret City (Season 2)

Release Date: March 6th

The Australian political thriller will be returning to Netflix in full the day after the new series begins airing down under. The series will continue following the political journalist uncovering the secret city amidst growing tensions between the US and China.

All the big names from season 1 will be returning including Anna Torv, Jacki Weaver, Justin Smith Damon Herriman, and Alan Dale.


After Life (Season 1)

Ricky Gervais returns to TV with his latest Original comedy arriving on Netflix on the 8th of March. Gervais has taken the hot seat as he has been credited for the creation of the series along with being the executive producer, director, and starring in the lead role. If his previous tv shows are anything to go by then we can expect After Life to be hilarious.


Triple Frontier (Movie)

Triple Frontier is the casting agent’s guide to getting subscribers to watch your film with its star-studded cast of leading men. Featuring the likes of Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garret Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal expect Triple Frontier to be a wild ride of action and explosions.

The loyalty amongst 5 friends is brought to the brink when their attempt to rob a South American drug lord unleashes a series of unexpected consequences. Their military training and everything they’ve learned from their prestigious careers is needed now more than ever when they are pushed to the breaking point.


Turn Up Charlie (Season 1)

Arriving in March is Netflix Original comedy series Turn Up Charlie. The series popular leading man Idris Elba not only is the star of the show but also the creator too. This is the 2nd show that Idris Elba has been credited as the creator for but his first Netflix Original series.

Struggling DJ Charlie is given the chance of a lifetime when he reluctantly becomes the Manny of his famous best friend’s daughter.


Dehli Crime (Season 1)

Release Date: March 22nd

This timely drama series coming out of India looks to be a must-watch. The series was picked up by Netflix at Sundance and will focus on recent events in India looking at the police investigation into the gang rape of a young woman.

The series will consist of seven-episodes and was shot on-location and has been in development since the real world event took place in 2012.


The Dirt (Movie)

Release Date: March 22nd

Who doesn’t love a biopic? After the overwhelming success of Bohemian Rapsody, it comes as no surprise that Netflix already had their own band biopic in the works. Following the story of the legendary rock band Mötley Crüe, we hope that this film sets Netflix alight.

The story of The Dirt follows the creation of Mötley Crüe and they came to be one of the most notorious bands in Rock’ n roll in history.


The Highwaymen (Movie)

Release Date: March 29th

The Highway Man

it seems veteran actor Kevin Costner has fallen out of favor with Hollywood in recent years. That’s not to say Netflix hasn’t given him the chance to co-lead one of their latest original titles. Alongside co-star Woody Harrelson let’s hope they hit subscribers with both barrels and blow us all away.


Osmosis (Season 1)

Release Date: March 29th

This won’t be the first French Netflix Original but it is our most anticipated. The sci-fi series will take us to Paris in the near future and basically expands on the Hang The DJ episode from Black Mirror season 4. It’s a beautiful looking show and will release exclusively on Netflix around the world.
