Every month, Netflix drops dozens and dozens of new Netflix Original titles, but most are not for everyone. In April, for example, we’re expecting close to 50 new Original movies, series, specials, and docs. In this new format, we will be picking through the biggest of the big.
This list will mostly cover all the biggest new English-language arrivals for April, but we’ll also feature two of Netflix’s upcoming international slates that we think should be on your radar for the month. They are listed in order of release.
We’ll be back soon on our What to Watch on Netflix section with rundowns of the most anticipated new movies and series coming up throughout April. You can also find a complete list of everything coming up on Netflix in the US throughout April 2025 and the UK list here.

Until recently, Netflix relied primarily on licensed and Korean medical dramas for its lineup. That all changed late last year with Breathless, the Spanish series from the creator of Elite. Now, we’re finally getting the first-ever U.S. produced with a big ensemble cast. The series takes place in a bustling Miami trauma hospital that’s facing numerous challenges, not least an incoming hurricane.
Who’s in that ensemble cast? Let’s run you through it now: Willa Fitzgerald, Justina Machado, Colin Woodell, Jessie T. Usher, Jack Bannon, Daniela Nieves, Chelsea Muirhead, and Jessy Yates, among many others.
Black Mirror S7

The entire staff here at What’s on Netflix absolutely adores Black Mirror, and so long as they keep making new episodes, we’ll keep gobbling them up. Easily the best anthology series on Netflix, the series from Charlie Brooker is returning for a highly anticipated seventh season, which will reportedly go back to its roots in being more sci-fi-focused this season. Six new episodes are coming up, with a follow-up to USS Callister and one for Bandersnatch. The rest of the episode’s details are being slowly unveiled, but one thing is clear: this season certainly has the potential to be the best to date, and that’s an awfully high bar to cross.

One of two international titles we’re spotlighting on this list is another hospital drama! This one serves as a follow-up to the infinitely popular Hospital Playlist, which ran for two seasons back in 2020 and 2021, and although fans were clamoring for a third season, we’re thankful that CJ Entertainment and tvN are following it up with this new title. The new show follows the medical residents of the familiar Jongno Yulje Medical Center, with Go Youn-jung, Cynthia, and Kang You-Seok headlining the cast.

Neo-westerns are in, and Virgin River is one of Netflix’s biggest sleeper hits. What happens when you combine the two? You get Ransom Canyon. April Blair, best known for her hit series All American, is charged with adapting the beloved Jodi Thomas novels for the series, with Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly set to play the roles of Quinn O’Grady and Staten Kirkland. The streamer describes Ransom Canyon as a “romance-fueled family drama and contemporary western saga that charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country.”
You S5

Netflix rescued You several years back now, and it’s become a fan-favorite, but all stories must have an end, and you could argue that Joe Goldberg has long outlived his luck now five seasons in. Returning to New York, Joe has multiple chickens coming home to roost in this surprising and twisty fifth and final season of the crime thriller.
Havoc

Every now and again, Netflix films a movie, and then it seemingly falls off the face of the planet. That happened with last year’s excellent Rebel Ridge and Havoc, headlined by Tom Hardy, definitely falls into that category too. Coming from the action movie maestro Gareth Evans, this gritty thriller sees Hardy play the role of Walker, a bruised detective having to fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue an estranged son of a prominent politician.
The Eternaut

There’s been some great Argentinian series added to Netflix over the years but The Eternaut represents their biggest swing to date. Based on the popular novel by Héctor Germán Oesterheld and Francisco Solano-López, this series, which has The Division vibes (RIP that Netflix project), follows Juan Salvo battling with a group of survivors against an unknown alien threat that’s brought and endless winter to earth.
