We are fast approaching a new month, and an extended February awaits us. What new movies does Netflix have in store for you? Quite a few! Below, we’ll pick out eight of our most anticipated or the best movies set to debut on Netflix globally or in the US throughout the month.

As always, we’ll split this into two parts with our monthly movie picks. We’ll first cover the Netflix Original movies that’ll be coming to the service globally. Then we’ll move into the licensed titles on the way, specifically in the US, but may be available elsewhere too.

For the full list of what’s coming up on Netflix in the United States throughout February 2024, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix.

Most Anticipated Netflix Originals Movies Coming in February 2024

Orion and the Dark (2024)

Coming to Netflix: February 2nd

Orion And The Dark Netflix February Preview

Picture: Netflix / DreamWorks Animation

Netflix’s first big animation swing for 2024 is Orion and the Dark, which comes from DreamWorks Animation and Mikros Animation.

Charlie Kaufman is behind the new movie’s script with Sean Charmatz directing and Jacob Tremblay and Paul Walter Hauser leading the voice cast.

Per Netflix, here’s what you can expect from the upcoming movie:

“Orion seems a lot like your average elementary school kid – shy, unassuming, harboring a secret crush. But underneath his seemingly normal exterior, Orion is a ball of adolescent anxiety, completely consumed by irrational fears of bees, dogs, the ocean, cell phone waves, murderous gutter clowns, and even falling off of a cliff. But of all his fears, the thing he’s the most afraid of is what he confronts on a nightly basis: the dark. So when the literal embodiment of his worst fear pays a visit, Dark whisks Orion away on a roller coaster ride around the world to prove there is nothing to be afraid of in the night. As the unlikely pair grows closer, Orion must decide if he can learn to accept the unknown – to stop letting fear control his life and finally embrace the joy of living.”

Players (2024)

Coming to Netflix: February 14th

February is, of course, the month with Valentine’s Day slapped in the middle, and among Netflix’s big offerings for the day of love are Players starring Gina Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., Liza Koshy, and the devil himself, Tom Ellis.

The rom-com sees Rodriguez play the role of Mack, who has developed a knack for creating successful hook-up plays but unexpectedly falls head over heels for one of her targets.

Code 8: Part 2 (2024)

Coming to Netflix: February 28th

Serving as Netflix’s first-ever movie from Canada is Code 8: Part 2, a sequel to the XYZ movie spawned from a YouTube short spawned from a successful Kickstarter campaign!

Robbie and Stephen Amell return in this superhero movie set in a world where 4% of the population is born with powers. In the sequel, we’ll see “an ex-con teams up with the drug lord he despises to protect a young girl from a corrupt police sergeant.”

The first movie is still streaming on Netflix in most regions, so watch it before the new sequel drops towards the end of February.

Kill Me If You Dare (2024)

On the international front, the one movie that has caught our eye is Kill Me If You Dare which originates from Poland.

The hour-and-a-half-comedy starring Mateusz Banasiuk sees a couple win the lottery jackpot. Life is now great, right? Wrong. They both immediately begin hatching plans to murder each other so that they get all of the prize money for themselves.

Best Licensed Movies Coming to Netflix in February 2024

Once again, these are all scheduled to hit Netflix US but won’t necessarily be on Netflix internationally.

X (2022)

Coming to Netflix: February 1st

Let’s begin with a relatively recent A24 movie and one that likely has flown under many radars. Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega headline this Ti West horror that’s not for the faint of heart. Serving as a fresh spin on the classic slasher format, the movie follows young filmmakers in the late 1970s setting out to make an adult film in Texas but soon find themselves fighting for their lives.

A follow-up to the movie called MaXXXine is currently in post-production and should arrive in theaters this year, so this is a perfect time to jump in.

Of course, Goth and Ortega are currently in the Netflix camp for various projects, with Goth filming Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Jenna Ortega soon returning to her iconic role as Wednesday Addams. Virgin River fans

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Coming to Netflix: February 23rd

Everything Everywhere All At Once New On Netflix February

Picture: A24

Yep, a second A24 movie (and we could have easily done four, given Waves and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On are on the way, too) is on our list, and we had to include it, given how many records it set for the indie distributor. Not only is Everything Everywhere All At Once the biggest grosser for the studio, it also swept the Oscars.

Headlined by Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, and Ke Huy Quan, the sci-fi movie comes from The Daniels and is a trip like no other, requiring multiple viewings. Given that this movie is best served cold, if you’re unfamiliar with the plot, don’t look it up beforehand.

Falling for Figaro (2020)

Coming to Netflix: February 9th

One title Netflix didn’t include in their own list of titles scheduled for February 2024 is the 2021 romantic comedy Falling for Figaro which will make a perfect Valentine’s Day watch.

Starring Joanna Lumley, Danielle Macdonald, and Hugh Skinner is about a American fund manager deciding to change her career into becoming an opera singer.

For those who live in the United Kingdom or Australia, the movie is already available where you live, and better yet, it’s even classed as a Netflix Original.

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken

Coming to Netflix: February 20th

If you love your animation, not only do you have Orion and the Dark to watch on Netflix in February 2024, but the overlooked Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, which was released theatrically last year, will be jumping from Peacock over to Netflix US this month.

Despite not putting in a strong performance at the box office, the movie did get relatively good reviews with Mike McGranaghan for Aisle Seat concluding, “Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken is terrific family entertainment, with plenty of laughs to match the meaningful story.”
